Embed Web Content in Inspire Dashboards

The Embed Web Content widget allows users to easily embed reports in dashboards from outside sources such as Microsoft, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

Step 1. Navigate to Dashboards in Inspire from the Waffle Menu

Step 2. Create a Dashboard by clicking the + Dashboard

Note: If you already have a Dashboard created, you can click the pencil icon to edit. 

Step 3. Name your Dashboard and Select the Folder you wish to save it in. You can choose between

  • My Dashboards if you are the only one that will be viewing.
  • Company Dashboards if you would like everyone in the company to have access.  

Step 4. Save

Step 5. Once you have Saved your new Dashboard, a side pane will pop out. If you are using an existing dashboard, click the Add Widget button in the upper right corner.

Step 6. Select Embed Web Content.

Step 7. From your web content visualization, click the "Share" and/or "Embed" buttons to find and copy the "Embed Code" or "Embed URL." The steps to find the Embed Code or URL may be slightly different depending on the outside source you are attempting to embed. See two examples below for Power BI and Looker.

Step 8. On the configuration panel for the widget, fill in a title, choose your size and paste in the link or embed code you copied into the Embed URL field.

Step 9. Click Save

Step 10. Click Done editing this dashboard.

Your web content will now display on your Inspire dashboard.

Additional Set-up for Embedded Content to allow Third-Party Cookies

Your browser may also need to be setup to allow third-party cookies to show the embedded content.  To enable this, follow these steps in Chrome or Edge:

1. Click the ellipsis in the top right of your browser window, then select settings.

2. Search for cookie and choose third-party cookies.

3. Ensure Allow third-party cookies is enabled

4. Add the App.InspireSoftware.com URL listed in the Sites allowed to use third-party cookies as well as the URL with the location of the document you want to embed (your SharePoint site or OneDrive):

5. Open Inspire and view the dashboard with the Embed Widget.
