This article details how to Manage the Visibility of Objectives so they are only visible to you, your supervisor, or to everyone. (Private vs Public).
Inspire gives users the flexibility to set objectives with varying levels of visibility, including Private Objectives. This article explains how private objectives work, how visibility can be managed, and how to edit these settings.
To Manage these settings - Navigate to the specific Objective you would like to manage - Select Edit (Pencil Icon)- Options - Attributes
Note: The labeling and images depicted in this article may differ from your version of Inspire.
These settings dictate who can view your objective and where your objective can be viewed.
- Professional and Public: The objective is visible to all users and status updates are posted to the newsfeed. This is the default for most companies unless your admin has changed this in the administrator module.
- Professional and Private: Once Published, each contributor will receive an invite in the same manner as a Public objective.
Visibility is limited to:-
The Owner
-
Objective contributors
-
The Owner's supervisor and above (via the 1-1 module)
-
Administrators
-
🛑 Note: Status updates for private objectives are not posted to the newsfeed.
- Personal and Public: The objective is visible in your public profile but does not display in your 1-1. Status updates post to the newsfeed. An example objective for this type could be to accomplish an event such as a 5k fun run that you are participating with other employees and want your progress to be visible to each other.
- Personal and Private: The objective is visible to you, your supervisor and Administrators. Status updates do not post to the newsfeed.
Note: No alignments to the strategy are allowed if your Objective is Personal and Private.
Note:
-
Only Public Objectives can be followed using the Follow function.
-
Depending on your company settings, you may only be able to set objectives as Professional. Contact your Inspire Administrator or support@inspiresoftware.com if you have questions on this.
-
Private Objectives aligned to the Corporate Strategy will still appear as Private. Only Corporate Strategy Administrators can view their details.
Note: If you have a Private Objective Aligned to the Corporate Strategy it will show up as Private.
Note: Users can change the Image for Objectives within the Edit Objective (Pencil Icon) - Attributes - Select Change
